Despite being almost defeated by 2016 I am determined to face 2017 with renewed resolve. Painting and creating keep me focused and forward thinking.
Watercolour can be a challenge but I love the immediacy of it, sometimes I have a stream of ideas and this is a great medium to work through them rather than trying to cram it all into one larger painting. With these paintings I wanted to work straight onto the paper with little planning or pre-drawing as this allows for much looser mark making, happy accidents and new discoveries.
I’m working as a model maker for stop frame animation again, it’s great fun back with the Scarycat team working on Christmas adverts for Aardman animations. I continue to paint everyday even if it’s just for an hour in the evening. Here are some of the pieces I have been working on. I’m using acrylic as I’m painting at home so oils are not really an option at the moment. These paintings are seasonal, summer, autumn, winter, there are lost girls, yeti hunters, halloween evenings and a star girl.
