Miss Mouse has become Audrey in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. She has been so much fun to make, dressed in the iconic little black dress outfit from the movie I thought it would be fun to add the cat mask and coat from one of my favourite scenes. She has been listed in my shop today. I enjoyed this project so much I think maybe Diane Keaton in Annie Hall or Louise bourgeois with her giant carved phallus!

I have worked on lots of new dolls this week and am introducing my newest young women, Miss Mouse dolls. They are smaller than my Molly dolly’s, larger than the little Oshi’s and fall somewhere between as far as play or display go! The Molly Dolly is a special doll for a child, nursery decor or for the adult collector, little Oshi’s are decorative and can hang on the wall like the larger Sazzy dolls that are display only. Miss Mouse dolls were designed as beautiful home decor showcasing my huge collection of beautiful vintage fabrics and their clothes are removable so gentle play is possible. They are between 14″ and 16″ tall, they are sitting dolls with gently shaped arms and legs,linen bodies and wool hair. They have hand knitted and hand-made clay bead details. The fabrics are beautiful quality silks and fine wools also some vintage Liberty of London pieces. Dolls available here.

I’ve been working away at getting my first group of standing peg dolls finished, I’m really pleased with them, and am also working on some more ceramics to add to the mugs in my shop. So lots of variety, tea pots, cups and saucers, salt and pepper shakers, serving plates, small dishes and even a smart pair of dogs! Lots of new things listed in my shop and more to come over the following weeks. I’ve had a lovely relaxed Sunday, this post being my only concession to work so I’m off to eat now and relax a little more, happy sunday evening to you all.

My mini hand embroidered lavender pillows are finally finished and in my shop today! I have been so busy I sometimes forget I have to photograph everything and get it listed!! They are hand embroidered on linen and backed with various vintage fabrics, then filled with lavender.

So this week I am trying to finish all my painted wood projects, some lovely decorative wooden spoons and standing wood peg dolls, I’ve been playing around with ideas of how to display these little dolls and am developing some little flags and banners, the idea being that you get a choice of flags for different celebrations or you could make your own. The dolls would then make lovely table decorations or even cake topper’s and when not in use they can decorate a shelf or sideboard with a patterned flag. I’m still working out the little flags and I imagine it will be another week before these are available in my shop. The spoons are purely decorative, maybe with a tag attached for personal messages. I have painted some new ceramics this week getting ready for Paper Scissors Stone, a Bristol based shop that brilliantly showcases local talent. It’s Easter holidays so I am working in the evenings, cups and saucers and large serving plates so far. I’ve had to ask the children for a ten minute break to write this post and clear my head before I take nine 12-year-old girls to a laser fusion birthday party and then back home for an overnight!! just writing about it makes me want to lie down and breath into a paper bag!!! But it is a beautiful sunny day so all is well.

My lovely little girl was 12 today, she opened her present’s, we ate cake and had a slow easy day, she is having a big party with friends on Wednesday. This afternoon we watched movies and ate popcorn and I finished off these magic garden drawings. Pencil and pen on black card. It’s hard to believe my baby is so grown up. Happy holidays everyone.

New large Oshi doll, she is slightly smaller than a Molly Dolly and is for display. Her clothes are fixed and decorated with hand embroidery, beads, silk and felt flowers. Her body and hair are linen, her dress is raw edged cotton and muslin. Below you can see her sitting with a little Oshi bunny and some new puppies and kittens made from linen and silk. Inspiration comes from Japanese kokoshi dolls, wooden peg dolls and primitive cloth dolls. 

About half way through the movie the girls asked to do a piece of embroidery also, and with Edward and Bella frowning in the background we sat together and had one of the loveliest creative girly moments ever, Sadie created a little cottage and Rosie a toadstool, I only had to thread needles. My girls are 9 and 11 and this was the perfect project for them, I will help them complete the project today by making them into lavender pillows.
