I have done a lot of drawing over the last week or so, my energy levels are very low as we approach the end of the six-week summer holiday. The children and I have muddled through ok with no real holiday and an awful lot of rain. I’ve tailored my work around them being home so less doll making and more drawing and planning. I’m continuing to develop the hand drawn china and really want to get started on t-shirts that I sampled earlier in the summer, these needed more testing and sampling but I think I’m nearly ready to produce them once the kids are back at school. These alphabet drawings are something that has been in the pipeline for a while, I’ve got lots of little sketches that I started developing yesterday, may add a little colour, not sure yet. Have a lovely Sunday.

Hand knitted cups!
Coming to my shop soon, hand knitted cups or mugs!! there is also a little patchwork cup perched on the top. I wanted to bring a reference to my textile work onto the china and whilst looking through my many knitting books it occurred to me my love of all the different stitches would be a good starting point for these mugs. Slightly smaller than my picture mugs like the example below which shows one of my ‘Good Morning Handsome’ mugs.

The Trick or Treat Gang
A group of hand drawn cloth dolls, I imagine these as a little gang of spooky trick or treat kids. I was sketching lots of ideas this weekend and decided to transfer some of them directly on to cloth. I like the rawness of these dolls, ink on cloth sewn into simple shapes and finished with contrasting embroidery threads to give a Frankenstein finish!
Hand painted mugs
I have wanted to do this for so long, getting work ready for paper scissors stone in Bristol has inspired me to get on with a list of projects that include t-shirts bags and mugs. I now have samples of all three to work with. I wanted to keep all the designs quite graphically simple, I have chosen to do black line drawings with areas of primary colours red yellow and blue. some of the drawings are based around my doll characters.

Badges Brooches & Printed dolls
I’ve been working on new designs for badges and brooches, I will be selling in Bristol through August and September at paper scissors stone come along to the launch on Wednesday 1st August. Above are some of the drawings I have made for a series of Molly Dolly inspired badges, also putting together new felt brooches and small printed Molly Dolly girls who like the badges are a fox, an owl and a bear, they each have little wool felt party hats. Also in progress are some fine detailed black and white ink drawings, also for badges.
